The library sessions were great! I have so many exciting ideas for the library. Watch for a new SJHS Library webpage with great new features!
Book Trailers -
One of my favorite ideas is the book trailers on digital picture frames. A book trailer is similar to a movie trailer advertising the up and coming movies to be released. With a book trailer, students can create their own "commercial." Each trailer is typically 2-4 minutes in length. I am hoping to have some of the language arts teachers jump on board and have students create the books trailers in their classes. Book trailers can also be found online, for many librarians are posting their students trailers so that their can be used by many schools. Once the trailers are found or made, we will load them onto the digital picture frames and place them throughout the library. Students will have the opportunity to "see" the story line of a book, and, hopefully, this will capture their attention and curiosity.
This is a great interactive library shelf. It will keep up with what you have read, what you are reading, and what you plan to read. You can post a book review, give a star rating and even keep up with your favorite authors or series.
This is a small sampling of ideas. I need a few hours to sit down and go through all my notes. Overall, I feel this conference has given me a huge jump start on ideas to create an interactive and highly relevant library at SJHS. The excitement abounds!!
